Monthly $500 in Jacksonville

Foosball forum for Jacksonville, Orange Park, and surrounding areas.

Postby hughsfoos on Thu May 19, 2011 11:41 am

Thanks to the owner of UBC, our monthly Double Event Saturday will pay out up to $550 for 10 teams!

Here's the deal, at 7 pm we start a DYP with a base entry fee of $5. We add 50% on top of entry fees, as usual. With 10 teams, that's a $150 payout.

At 9 pm, we'll start the Main Event BYP, with a base entry fee of $10. We also add 50% to the purse. That makes $150 for 5 teams and $300 for 10 teams.

We're not stopping there!

With 5 teams, we'll add a $50 bonus to the BYP payout, bringing it to $200 for just 5 teams.

For 10 teams, we'll add another $50 to the BYP, making it a $400 payout!

If we get more than 10 teams, we'll start scheduling the DYP to start at 6 pm for upcoming Double Event Saturdays, and work on getting another table. Currently, we have three well maintained T-3000's, and we just got a new batch of balls for tournament play.

The Jacksonville players have promised that they'll make every effort to be there each month, and a few Orlando players have already promised to try to make it.

The next four Double Event Saturdays are scheduled as follows:

May= 5-28-11
June= 6-25-11
July= 7-23-11
August= 8-27-11

Please respond to this thread if you plan to attend. If we know there's a big turnout coming, I may be able to arrange for another table. Moving the DYP to 6pm will require me to give the players advance notice.

5 teams, paying $200, would split the money:
1st=$115
2nd=$55
3rd=$30

10 teams, paying $400, would split the money:
1st=$215
2nd=$110
3rd=$50
4th=$25

I'm usually so reserved when it comes to these subjects :shock: However, it's amazing how a little competition in the city, all of the sudden jacks the payouts up....Where have these been over the last....I don't know...Forever?

You pay 3 places with only 5 teams. Shouldnt that be 2 places when there is 5 teams

Ray,

He usually doesn't pay 3rd with 5 teams. When there is money added he does. I had the same question in the past.

Ray,

We only pay 1st and 2nd with less than six teams, UNLESS the payout exceeds $150. Over $150 or over 5 teams gets third paid.

Ben,

Most of the money has been there the whole time.
Until recently the whole Double Event Saturdays deal has included everything it has now, EXCEPT the last $50 for hitting 10 teams.
That means, that we already had a setup that could potentially pay out $500 for 10 teams.

The big difference is that with Tony Spredeman moving to Florida, we're talking about it more so we can get the turnouts and payouts that might convince him to play on our field once in a while.

Alright, we've got solid commitments from J-ville and just outside of town.

I just got my first O-town commitment, Ray Maddux.

So, what's up with Josh M, Al E, Bill P, Jim Raymond, Greg Platt and the boys in Orlando?

How about Rob K, Matt H and the Tampa crew?

Come on out, $550+ up for grabs with 10+ teams!
We've already got 8 teams worth of players committed, what's YOUR excuse?

Oh, I know..... it would SUCK to drive up here and get sent home outta the money!
:lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Wow Hugh....good thing you're not in sales. Your **Mission Statement** Insult and they will come. How about...hey guys...come to Jax, enjoy some drinks, fun and foosball, win some money....Oh and by the way we own you guys on the table and you can't win our money. Just sayin'

All kidding aside (except for the own you part), I'm excited for this one. Also if you guys need somewhere to stay I have plenty of room. Couches and two bedrooms with beds. If you Orlando guys promise to shower you can stay too. Ha!

No trophies at this one, so you guys should be safe :D

Now, now. There was no insult there. 8)

I just took an opportunity to imply that the likelihood of losing, combined with a long ride home MIGHT be a probable excuse for the Orlando and Tampa players to NOT visit Jacksonville. :shock:

I never suggested that any of their players actually sucked at foosball. :D

Of course, no out-of-town players rated below Master have been able to get multiple wins in Jacksonville, EXCEPT Al Esterson and Jim Raymond. (NOT counting those players that rode Al and Jim's coat-tails) :lol:

Ben, nice move. Offering a place to stay does take away another potential excuse for supposedly competitive Orlando and Tampa players to avoid us! :mrgreen:

Oh well, today's the day. If you're coming, look forward to a pair of fun events and a fun crew (except for Ben, he's always swinging that trophy at anyone who gets close enough). :lol:

Hey! I just got a call from Ray Maddux. He'll be playing with Greg Fulsang.

Hugh you need to move up you starting times and do the Bring 1st since it pays the most. In the Bring the last 4 places didnt get to play out due to the lack of time and I still didnt get home till 4:30 Understand you had a good turnout and things got late but you want to play for the money that is advertized not settle.

Ray,

Starting times have been changed and updated.
I'll also be trying to get us another table.

I schedule the DYP first so uncommitted players have a chance to find partners before the BYP. I'm not likely to change that unless the BYP turnout gets big enough that a Draw isn't needed.

If we have any problems getting finished with the new start times, I'm prepared to move everything another hour earlier.
