SweetDaddy, Geno,
I hear from GB that its a 6local point pro/am... ie, players rated 6 locally can play with a zero/beginner, a player rated 5 with a 1 or a zero/beginner, and a player rated 4 with a 0, 1, or 2 rated player. But no 3's can play with another 3.
That kinda makes sense, if it's a pro/am and not a limited (max 6 local points).
Is this how you're gonna run it? That should certainly help out all the beginner, rookie and high rookie players, forcing real pro/am partnerships. A limited, on the other hand, actually helps out mostly the middle level IMHO, since there's a much higher chance that they've played together and played well beforehand.
Have you and Mark gotten together with the visiting out of town players' promoters, to get a good handle on how they would be rated locally? Or is it gonna be like Jim's old First Friday O-town ratings for visitors... dependent on the weather, the political landscape, the ozone level, the color of your dog's eyes, and which local guys got eliminated by that visitor's team the last time LOL? You might remember what Ronnie K got rated (2 levels above) after he'd come to visit and drew Mike Yore and won 3months before ... higher than me or Mark Winker! And how they rated BC playing with MarkW ... (an SP and a Rookie then on tour) giving a point to teams with two solid semipros or a proM and an SP! HAHAHAH.
Maybe you could throw out the ratings for visiting players and base it on what they bring:
- Plays with local beginner/rookie: max them as a 3 point player.
- Brings 3 or more cases of beer or liquor: max them as a 2 point player.
- Brings 5 or more cases of beer/liquor, both days, give them a 1 rating.
- Brings 5 or more cases, both days, plus pizza & wings for everyone: a 0 rating.
The above might become the basis of a TRUE ALL-FLORIDA RATING SYSTEM.
