Alan,
That was a great trip and a spectacular event! The celebrities, the Lakers in the Finals right across the street, and grandiose TORNADO couldn't pull off a 6 table event with such short notice (lees than 2 weeks - LOL), but Bonzini USA...well, Nike appreciates us!! Pretty amusing, actually...I mean, how many tens of thousands of Tornado tables are between Pinnacle, NC and Los Angeles...LOL
This will be my last post on Netfoos (YEAAHHH!!) as I have nothing to support here.
Take care...........................Tyler

Hey Tyler,
In case you ever go on Netfoos again..
You strike me as one of those purists.. Now I went for some exchange junior high over in the old country a long time ago .. I love Lowen, Jupiter, Lehmacher, Garlando & even Roberto (playing wit' da real hooligans) tables. 2007 Frederico in Montreuill showed how basic brush passing & set pull shots can win a tournament no matter what the table, Tornado or Bonzini or other. You jez' havta adjust & play better, is'all.
So if Nike & Bonzini are real buddy-booty-buddies now... Does that mean they will start using conscripted labor in Thailand & other 3rd world countries to make your Bonzini tables, just like Nike sponsored? Will it take another concerted movement & personal affronts to Michael Jordan to stop Nike supervisors from victimizing & raping & abusing women who were working in these hothouses? Bragging about Nike events is no longer cool. So what's Bonzini's next event? Will it co-partner with Exxon in a "green" event?
I find a lot of Tornado players just look with wonder at players who play on the 'sticky' tables, and how well they adjust. It is sad that there aren't more Bonzini or other tables to play on, but I seriously don't believe Tornado players as a whole look down on players on these other surfaces. They know you enjoy the same type of pastime as they do, especially with their player friends & colleagues. They're all foosers & they all will play on whatever tables are available. They ain't freaks and never regarded any Euro-style players as freaks either. We're all people, right?
Except maybe the top 5 or so foosers in the world.. You and I know they're really from outside the solar system... jez' viztin'. |

T-Man,
Sorry to hear you're leaving.
I like Net Foos.
Fooskillah,
The Nike event was a Bonzini U.S.A. venture and had nothing to do with the manufacturer. Nike was having problems with a local foos organization over the charge of using their tables. Nike contacted us through a MLS connection. We offered the tables for free and helped run the event. They paid shipping cost of the tables. We pulled this off 10 days before the event.
Nike then held a foosball event on Melrose Ave. using Bonzini tables that had figurines customized in the uniforms of the 8 major World Cup Team that Nike sponsors. Good event. I'll post some pictures about that later.
We have had other projects with Coke, Seven-Up, Gillette, Alltel.
We also do Corporate foosball and tradeshow events.
The lasted project was for Mahou, a Spanish beer company that is introducing their product in the U.S. It was a series of 8 tables. One is currently in the SoHo House in Manhattan.
You can check them out at:
http://www.bonziniusa.com/GalleryPictures/gallery_page_10.htm
Bonzini, the manufacturer, has not particpated in these ventures. They are all executed by Bonzini U.S.A. and not to be confused with the manufacturer. We get players involved with these projects regardless of table preference and will continue to do so. I have found that 99% of the players that repsect and love the game will help whenever and where ever.
Later

Alan,
Believe me, if and when Bonzini comes down to South Florida from I guess its distributor fringe in Jax, there will be quite a few foosers down here who will more than willingly try out the "new" tables.
Only good news ever came from anyone who went to Jax or NC for Bonzini tournaments. Well run, and fun! What more can one ask for? The same reason Mary's tournaments are popular for Tornado! It will always be as great or as sorry as the effort people who love the game will put into it.
It's kinda funny how hardball Tornado, stickyball & hardball Eurofoos tables seem to mirror the differences between red clay courts. grass courts & hard courts in tennis. And just like tennis, the best players from all those worlds are converging. |

Ok, second to last post...actually, anything I have to say I will do it here, and I won't bump the thread...
"Nothing to support" meaning I have no specific events anywhere to support. Haven't met newest new owners at UBC (I own nothing there, so digging into my own pockets again would do nothing but piss off my accountant) and no Bonzini events scheduled on any of my tables anywhere either. Since I don't play any weekly/monthly events, I will keep my thoughts to myself, as it should be. Netfoos is great, I am just involved in other things right now.
Chris,
If you play a Bonzini event, talk trash about it, will I hand you money - let's go with 'no', even if you don't say a word.
Foozkillah,
Interesting...if Nike approached you/your group to do a promo, you'd tell them 'no' for humanitarian reasons? I would praise you loudly for your ethical stance! For me - if it's good enough for Tiger, it's good enough for me...but then, I am a nobody in the grand scheme of things. I was indeed humbled to be asked to help with the Nike promotion. And as much as I'm certain every major oil company has some less than perfect employees, I'll still buy gasoline for my car.
Sorry for venting on your thread, Alan. If you post when we hosted the ESPN SportsCenter program, I won't say a thing! Oh, with a few last minute checks, the MLC just pushed the total Quigley support (so far) to over $80K...fyi.
Bye...........................Tyler

Foozkillah,
We are such a small company.
I would love to bring an event to South Florida someday. I'm hoping to return to Northern Florida early in 2009 for a uniqe event.
Also, we hope to have all 5 I.T.S.F. tables for a mobile unit by the end of the summer.
Mary does a great job and it's nice to be mentioned in the same thread with her.
Table variety is the spice of the game.
Tyler,
We hope to YouTube the ESPN interveiw within the next day or so. |
