Some of the promoters I know act like its too much work to open a Netfoos account.... but once you enter all of your players its not that bad at all after that. Its just a matter of time before everyone catches on to our lil' secret. Laughing

You have to be kidding me!!!! I have been playing Foosball longer than all you clowns and there have NEVER been 114 players!! you cant count some guy and his drunk girlfriend that was sitting at the bar ,that you begged to play to get 6 teams!! as part of a player data base!! I would be surprised if you had 25 regular players!

So you single out our location in strikers, huh... We have never begged strangers to play AT ALL at strikers. Of course we don't have 114 players. People come and go. Some stay. You should know that since you've played the game longer than all the clowns. I wouldn't, since I've only been playing the game for 7 months.

Is someone considered a "player" that has only come down and played in 3 of our tournies? I enjoyed playing you at the BYP last time, though it was our shortest match. Cool

Daniel,

lol, I must say, that thread you started was hilarious and a little exhausting too. Nice one!
I will add that I did learn a few things about certain cities and the players they have. Pretty cool !!

If you have only played for 7 months. You have NO CLUE about the history of this area, when it comes to foosball!

As as for me being your shortest match. So you are a MUCH better player then I am!! So what is your point? I can guarantee you that if I practicted 1/10 of what you do, I MIGHT be able to beat you!!

Actually That is my new goal, to be able to beat you someday!!

With a little bit of practice I think I can do it. = )

You were replying to our STRIKERS location which has the 114 number you were referring to. That is the area, and the history started May 12, 2007, My first day of tornado foosball. I've played nearly every single tournament so Yeah I know the history of our sunrise location since thats the AREA you seemed to knock on.

I never said I was better.. In fact the first time I played you at our first big striker tourney I got crushed by you. I don't even think one block. But as we know it didn't go like that last time. Regardless of Merv being up front I did what I was supposed to in the back. Of course I was happy about it cause I thought you were one of the best players down here and you had the "goalie of the year" on your team.

Your new goal is a good one for you, but if you want to beat me you might have to actually show up.

All kidding aside, I know you're better than me, but you've been playing probably as long as I've been alive so cut me some slack on the sarcasm.

I'm a new player but at least i'm trying to improve. I couldve just said fuck it I don't have time for this like alot of people that quit.

See you on the table whenever

Ok John, Slack granted...

I only look on here about as much as I play. I just saw that post on the top 20 and started to laugh at how we were rated not only 4th but being listed on the top 20 twice! I have seen these tournys at the top with 20 teams every week to the bottom with 5 teams. It got very Discouarging for Dave and I. That is why we dont show that much anymore. But to say that this area is bigger then Tampa, Orlando, Texas, California, Colorado and MANY MANY MANY MORE cities is what got me laughing!!I never attacked you. And now that I know who you are ( after telling me you played with that Merv guy) Never met him before, I know who you are. You are a nice guy. Sorry if I offended you in anyway.

But I do agree with you! I do suck!!! I am not as good as I once was!! ( If that was even good?)

I didn't think you understood that the 114 was just the number of players that have showed up and played at least one time since we started in may. The rankings were for just net foos accounts. They had the same discussion over on foosball board with people upset.

Anyhow, I didn't know merv either. He visits his sister down here from canada. I just knew that he was a 1600 point expert and that he needed a goalie so I grabbed him as soon as he showed up and he agreed to let me play with him. I try to really step up my game when I get lucky enough to get a great player.

When I heard we were playing you first I was nervous cause of what you did to me the last time we played. I since have been taught better defense but i still wasn't sure. I didn't see you warm up at all so I told merv to just try to get some points fast if you were rusty.

Anyhow, we have the $750 Friday and Saturday at strikers. You should try to make it out. Though the format isn't the normal one.

John

PS. You may not be as good as you once were, but to a beginner like me I'd give anything to at least have your 5 bar. I am still almost clueless even though I've practiced so much. I'm getting good on my snake shot and drill it pretty good, It's just so damn tough to get it on my 3. I'm going to kentucky this month so hopefully I can finally learn the darn thing.

Hey John

Despite the misunderstandings... I hope you get a chance to draw Gary one of these nights.

You'll rarely find a more patient partner, especially if you're a less experienced player. And he always gives 110%. He scraps for every posession, tries to make sure you get the minimum number of attempts at your goal. I learned a lot from playing with and against Gary over the past 18 years, since I met him and Dave Abrams at Cross County Mall in 89 or 90, and I wish I had the patience to communicate with my less experienced partners like he had.

And yes, he's a real real tough opponent.

Yeah I'd like to play goalie for him, but he hasn't ever played in our draws. Only BYP's.

Maybe we'll see you coming back to strikers soon Brian?

Posted: Tue Feb 12, 2008 10:23 pm    Post subject: Gary G in a DYP?

John,

Yeah he used to go DYP'in back in the Coby Jack & Jumpshots days... but I guess a couple of his cronies used to pick on him whenever he drew a real beginner that could score on their own team faster than Gary could score for them.

A few of those annihilations and he just wanted to play with Dave or one of the old regulars. Same thing finally got to Jason Reep and several forwards from our glory days... Being a good forward, adjusting to partners, is a lot harder mentally & physically than for us goalkeepers from those days.. Myself, Jeff Kobol, Kenny Bixgorin, Henry Timmes, Jim Dumas, Dave Abrams, even Darren Miller ... We just had to be steady...

I'm glad Johnny Duckett & Paul Slade are back.. they're all-around players. But it is very hard to draw a rank beginner and get nuked by weaker players after driving 60-150 miles roundtrip, especially if the bad luck of the draw hits ya... And back then, at least we always had the chance of going up against a Promaster like Mike Cody or Mike Green, and pros like Gary G, Adam Horowitz, etc.. Made it worthwhile.

That would probably be the best way to get DYPs hot again, get about three pros, not even promasters, regularly attending, and players will always go for the challenge. That's what has really helped any group of DYP players anywhere... Motivation.

Posted: Tue Feb 12, 2008 11:14 pm    Post subject: John about your question

I was pleasantly surprised you & Jenn were in the BMurphs league. (Tell me I wasn't the first one a while back who said she had a worthwhile game!!!! Although I did pick on her a couple times that ticked her off).

I'm almost sure Mark's always gonna be running BMurph's, with Paul S, Johnny Duckett, Tony M. even, on Fridays. I was told to cool off from Strikers because the TD was under the impression I was discouraging players. Although I can only remember always encouraging players to head to Strikers if they could, I have to respect the wishes of the TD. Whatever the reason, I quickly got out of the habit of that long long trek to Strikers. It actually kind of helped me recoup & recover from a stressful 2007. I still have Thursday nites at Brendan's, & I started meeting the players at the Snuggery in Palm Beach Gardens. More players and more women players there than at the Brass Ring.

Not quite like legendary Lost Weekends, where I played with PM's Scott O'Hare & Rick Ino for 3-4 years when they were in the area, Local PM Mike Cody, & 10-12 hardcore players from PB Atlantic College (now University). There were semipros Joey Filipe, Kenny B & even Henry Timmes, the PBch Billiards gang (Tony Mommone, natl champion Kim Perez, worldchampion Shane Ledford) when they grew older & started going downtown. When Josh Manning was just a little better than his buddy Ryan's level, he was setting up Tommy Hilfiger stores & started going to LW, where he learned wallpasses & zone defenses first! You can't really go home again, but that was one of the best times... 3 minutes away from downtown & LW, I ran Monday $100 guaranteed giveaway dyps for 2 yrs, got paid by LW & both Newcastle Ale & Grolsch Lager to run wildly successful tournaments... and all the managers played foos! You had to have been there.

In conclusion, I realized Strikers would never be a second home like LW, so I basically stopped going. Perhaps we could get drawn on League nites. At least BMurph's a bar. I guess I will always want to play in a bar or sports bar.
