Hey guys, Hugh here with some comments on the NW Open and Legend/Medallist tables.
First off, thanks to EVERYONE at Dante's for the Open. Everybody I met was cool and easy to get along with. Thanks to Rich Fosner and the crew for putting on an exciting event on 20 new tables!
Props to Chad Kinner for his exciting fast play (especially on the 5-rod),and his great all-around game!!!! Props to Rick Martin for that awesome push-kick (that I heard won him a singles World Championship in the 80's). And props to all the rest of the excellent foosers at Dante's for the Open!!!
I had a great time meeting a bunch of cool foosers, especially Rich, Larry and George who helped me keep my head straight!!!
I also want to give props to my two partners: Matt in Open Doubles, man he had some awesome passes! And Jeff L., who played his ass off in the A-B Draw. Sorry I didn't play better for you guys!!
As far as the tourney itself goes, the player count fluctuated from 40-60 from what I heard. They probably could've got by with only 10-15 tables but it was nice to always have open practice tables!!! The tourney flow was just like what you'd expect, fast at first then slowed down by conflicts. Rich and the crew did a great job pushing the events causing the conflicts though, so everything went really well from what I saw. I did have a question about the A-B draw (did you find out what happened to the draw, Rich?)
To any and all, it was a great experience! I just wish I'd had more than one day to play! I recommend a visit to Dante's to any fooser visiting the area!
I give the NW Open a four out of five!!!!
Attention to all Tornado players that haven't played on the Legend/Medallist table!!!! This table ROCKS!!!!! It's solidly built, plays great, has tons of extra visual reference points and brings back a LOT of "old-school" shots and passes!!! Among them: front and back pin shots, BANKS, push kicks and pull kicks. The snake and pull shots are a bit less effective than on Tornado.
I give the Legend/Medallist table a four out of five also, with room to go up or down.
Check out NW Foosball and the Legend table,

Glad you had a good time man. Did you play forward or goalie for most of the events? Shoot the pull or snake? Were the balls fuzzy like tornados? Were the corner ramps OK? Overall better or worse than tornado? Inquiring minds want to know!!

Glad you had a good time at the NW Open.
We up here in the Seattle area like the Legion Tables too.
Did you get the Otis award?

Hugh here again,
I split the Otis award with somebody who came from Boston. It cost me $20 total to play in two events.
I played mostly forward, 'cause I hooked up with goalies. The Legend table plays great. The feet on the men are 50% wider than on Tornado, which makes for some serious adjusting at first. The 5-man rod was SUPER easy for passing and the wide feet helped a lot for catching passes and loose balls. The ramps threw in a kink that took some getting used to. (The "drive-by" showed LOTS of potential, as well as back wall rebound passing!!)
The balls were the toughest part of adjusting to the new tables, for me. They were REALLY bouncy and you had to "give" quite a bit on your catches or watch the ball bounce to the other 5-rod.
I didn't have much time to tune in my 3-rod (less than one day), so I mostly shot spray pulls, pull-kicks and outside pulls from the 33. Tic-tacs and dink shots worked VERY well also.
The legend table also had these wonderful drink holders built right into the cabinet. I know foosers AND promoters will love THAT!!!!!
These tables made the snake and pull shots a little easier to block, but there were so many other options open to the forwards that a good block usually led to an offensive rebound followed by some kind of angle or "reversal" shot.
Over all, I think this table has the potential to replace the Tornado on tour IF it's marketed right and the manufacturer doesn't try to control the competitive aspects of the game.
Hope that answers most of your questions guys.
