John and Jen, great playing last night -- You two definitely have a great shot a winning if you play like you did last night! Your practice and time at the weekly tournaments is really starting to pay off.

Thanks Mark, we really appreciate it. Now I know they say Tornado is a "forwards" table and a "good" forward doesn't need a good goalie to win, but I definately needed Jen! I felt we had good team work because we both helped to win the matches.

I was upset because all I had to do was make that last shot in match one of the finals for us to win the tourney, but I'm confident we'll get more chances in the future to win.

Now I have to go practice my 5-bar right now so I can really win some matches with my deadly snake. HAHA. See ya tomorrow.

PS.. I need a partner for the BYP tomorrow at strikers. Anyone want me??? Jen is out in Colorado, so she won't be there this weekend.

It's nice that you have all these tournaments down in Ft. Lauderdale..

Too bad there's a lof of Friday Nites sacrificed at Bud Murphy's.. I noticed those 5 college guys that have been hanging around during tournament Fridays and playing among themselves and with a few of us for pickup. They just need a little more nudging... just like Mark Winker, Mark Winger, JT, and their buddies started, back at WorldFamous.

Sometimes I wish we had these nice tourney's in summer, when there were even a lot more players at Strikers. Now would be the time for Bud Murphy's since the atmosphere for us older guys is a bit more attractive. Drinks & food sure taste better, albeit a bit more expensive, in a hangout like Bud's.

I would do more of these nice beginner/rookie challenges at Bud's during season and at Strikers in spring & summer.. If I recall the 20 to 24-team turnouts at World Famous... those folks are getting a bit neglected.

But I guess Gary G, Dave A, Tony M., Joe 1Gun, Ronnie K, Scott, Harold & I can pull back a bit and go to our comfort zones up in North county, until the action gets good in Delray/Boynton/Boca again. One thing, you guys down there have to really get Adam Horowitz & Brian Costello to play more often... Those guys will pull your level up so high!

Will try to get a ride down one of the days...

Hey Josh,

Great to hear you are coming down to play, it should a be a lot of fun. Some of the rookie teams to look out for are Maddux and Pascal as well as Dumas and Johnny D. There should be some other good competition, but those are the only two teams I know that are paired up already.

See you soon,
Mark

Pascal & all,

Props to my DYP partner, Sweet Daddy-D, for keeping me up, focused on the shot at hand, and all those clutch blocks he had against BC, who was coming like Gen Grant through Georgia!! Whew!

Too bad we didn't get to play you, or Mark Winker... But perhaps tonight... If I can get to go again, that is.

Where the heck was Jeff Maddux? And where was Moose? (Skender Kek) and Joe1Gun Gunter? Ronnie Kemp from Vero Beach was looking for a partner for Saturday's Beginner & Rookie dubs... dunno if he was making it for Rookie Sgls...

When they have this Rookie & Beginner Foos Series, why don't they have a limited or BY "pro-am"? Wouldn't that be another good way of maintaining interest, and in the nightly draws... a semipro-semipro or higher duo gets too much of an advantage, a beginner-beginner draw teaches them nothing and just discourages those two, while the ones who get the most out of it are a stronger-less experienced combo. Don't you agree? Perhaps not for both nights, but at least for either the Friday or Saturday 9pm event. Or even a Roto draw where the stronger team has to be careful not to get stuck in front-back positions where they can get blasted. That's why Rotos are popular once a month or once an event, because the strongest draw doesn't always get the huge advantage.

Waiting oh soooo patiently for the results. John Hernandez it was Great Playing with you man!! you did very well. Sorry that I had to cut it short, we probably could of double dipped Brian, but I was so freakin tired... I did not make it home till 6:30am sunday morning. We won't split next time.

Your a good listener, which makes it all the more worth it when you can play with someone who really is interested in the "Team."

Thanks to all you SF foosers, all you guys and gals are great sports and much fun to play with and against.

Thanks for being great hosts.

Cya,

Joshua

Nice to have you come down all that way... I didn't realize you were living in Deltona!

Your dig about probably double-dipping Brian is very interesting... Especially to him! :) But then, your g John had a lot more experience than Vanyere, who was just getting back into foos after quitting for a while at the beginner level. Could have happened, especially since you already knocked them out the first match.

And now we know who Ryan your buddy was talking about! Looks like he'll be a regular at Strikers from now on, and a very welcome one! 6:30 in the morning... just in time for MickeyDee's 2for2$ sausage mcgriddles with eggNcheez!! You must have let the cows in on their way home!

Are ya going to Charlie Mac's NC thingee in NC next week?

Josh

Glad you made it home safely and didn't stay asleep at the wheel too long. hehe. It's okay about the split. Momentum was definately on our side to finish them off but I think I gained some knowlege that is gonna help me defend the few snake shooters we have down here. (I hope)

I was frustrated all day from not being as good as I hoped I would be, but playing with you in the draw made it all go away! I liked being encouraged when I made dumb mistakes, and I kept my cool I think the whole time, except maybe the first match against Costello when I got destroyed once again by him.

Thanks for waiting til after that first match to help me with my defense. During the match, i'm so pumped and nervous that I wouldve taken the advice as a negative.

For as little experience as I have with passing from the back, I think I did a good job. Most got through their 5 bars in the early matches. I've been working on setting the ball up closer to the wall like you showed me now too.

Once again, thanks for making the trip down here Josh. See ya around.

Brian

Van's been playing as long as me. We both started the same day. He plays everyday at work. Often, two times a day. I don't even get to do that anymore, now that I don't work with those guys anymore.

I want to thank Mark for an excellent tournament. Great job on the management and software setup for calling matches. Impressive stuff !

My first props go out to Cheryl for shuttin' down the snake shooters and supreme passing skills which allowed us to take 1st in Rookie Dubs. Thanks for your delicate words for keeping me calm through out the matches. Great playin' Cheryl !!!

Next, to Johnny D, way to hang in there, buddy!! I think switchin' up helped us seal that 1st place win in Beginner Dubs. When I wasnt shootin' up front, you would take over with a strong 5-bar and carry us the rest of the way. The competition was tough, I had to reach in my bag O' shots and use everything I had or didnt have. <snake, pull, back pin, push, Texas-T sh*t you name it, I tried it!!>

Mike S for a good shot at Open DYP 1, you played excellent for not touching a table in 8 months. As you progressed through the tournament you gained alot of steam. nice going !

Lastly, on Open DYP 2,JT, brother we always do pretty good when we pair up. Thanks for good matches and shooting from the goalie to keep us in it. G*d D@mn, Dumas with his 6 in row frikin goalie goals to knock us out of it. Sorry we couldn't get a win.

And too everyone else, beginners to pros, thanks for playin and keeping the competition tight throughout. Good to see you made it down here Josh. Looking forward to the next one.

I agree with Craig...some very nice additions to an already awesome tournament management tool created by the brilliant Mark Winker and made available FREE to Tournament Directors around the world -- only on NetFoos.com! 8)

And Craig, I know you're not the type of person to pat yourself on the back, so I will give you the kudos you most definitely earned and deserve for your contributions to our first place finish in Rookie Doubles. You played a very focus, composed and purposeful series of matches. I felt confident that if I could just clear the ball and get it past your 5-bar, you would do a great job of keeping it up there and scoring points -- and you did just that. AWESOME playing, partner! :D

I hope we can partner up again for the next South Florida Foosball Series in Rookie Doubles to defend and retain our title (even if it means that Mr. Meanie Tournament Director (yes, I'm talking about you, Mark..LOL!), will finally shove me out of the Rookie Nest for-EVA! *sniff sniff*

Hope to see you both Saturday night!
