|
I'm posting this for anyone who hasn't used netfoos to run a tournament!
i went out and bought a new cell phone that lets me connect my laptop to share the phones Internet connection.
i went with t-mobile
the phone was $150 with an unlimited data/internet package upgrade of $40 a month.
i got this mostly for netfoos and ran my first event tonight and all i can say is i should have done it sooner.
I'm going to be running a 3 event tournament tomorrow and although i will be using paper as backup I'm not expecting any problems.
Thanks again Mark and everyone else at NetFoos, i think i speak for everyone when i say.
WE LOVE NETFOOS
and
Thanks for keeping it free.
p.s
send me more shirts <wink> |

Great to hear! Also, thanks for pointing out running paper chart backups along with the online ones -- that is always a good idea =).

I'm really happy with how things went yesterday.
Netfoos worked great except for an occasional error message about not using the back button (never touched the back button), these glitches caused no major problems and i was right back where i was with 2 mouse clicks with no results lost.
i think some improvements could be made for multi event tournaments, like easier navigation from one event to another and hopefully someday having a single list of matches to be called for all events.
but if you did all that you would probably be charging $5k for licensing so don't rush.

Hi Rob,
Thanks for the feedback. I'm hoping to make a better interface for the multiple event tournaments as more people are starting to use NetFoos for these types of tournaments. It is a little ways off still, but it is definitely on my list of things I want to get done.
As for the "back button" errors, these pop up every now and then for various reasons (some of which are not necessarily caused by hitting the back button). I need to get in and fix this and other little bugs as well, but as you said you can get back to where you need without too much trouble.
Thanks again,
Mark |

I just helped run a small multi-event Tournament over the weekend and although we did take care of the Internet connection issues so we could use NETFOOS to run the events I would not say that we used paper charts as a backup.
I would say that the paper charts were "primary" and we updated NETFOOS when we had a chance. Like what was said by ROB in the earlier posts it is VERY difficult to run multiple events at the same time. If there were a way to have multiple event manager "tabs" open it would work great. Event results come in so fast it is too slow to navigate from event to event to make things smooth. DON'T GET ME WRONG, NETFOOS is GREAT! Hopefully with input like ROB's it will only get GREATER |

I just finished what I call the "Multi Event Tournament Director" module (Ben, I just activated the NetFoos Admin Modules on your account -- see bottom left link when you are logged into your NetFoos Admin account). This module is the first step towards making the running of multi event tournaments much easier with NetFoos.
Currently, it still requires some clicking around, but it gives you a main control center to manage your multi event tournaments much easier (lists conflicts, match times, players who can be called in multiple matches, etc.). Also, if your computer has "text to speech" capabilities, you can have hook your comupter up to a sound system and have the comptuer call matches and recalls -- I used this at our first South Florida Foosball Series tournament and it worked really well.
Once I've finshed the testing and added features (based on feedback, etc.) I'll be integrating this directly into the main NetFoos Admin system where it will function much more efficiently. If you have a chance to test it out please let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Mark |

Sounds very cool. Our next Tournament will be in February. It will be a fairly large local tournament, "FOOSMANIA" !
Thanks Mark! |

wow i should have visited the forum before helping out the Albany crew.
we ran a multi event tournament but used 2 laptops to manage things, this could have made that easier.
can i get this added to my account? |
