Hey guys, just browsing this board and wanted to clear up this rule a little.
If the ball goes off the table, then it will go to the goalie of the team that DID NOT HAVE LAST POSSESION. In other words, if I shoot the ball from any of my player figures and the opposing team blocks the ball (without gaining possession), then the blocking team will gain possession of the ball at the goalie. It does not matter which team has scored last, it simply goes to the team that did not have last possession.
Possession is defined as having long enough control of the ball to stop, pass or make a shot. The ball hitting multiple men during a blocking attempt does not constitute possession. Additionally, the ball hitting your own men, the back or side walls count as a block by the opposing team and should be treated as an opposing teams block attempt.
I hope this helps clear this rule up a little. It seems there is a lot of confusion on what this rule is exactly. An easier way to remember it is this...the blocking team gets credit for blocking the ball and they gain possession at their goalie.
