Why does it always happen to me?

When I solidified my plans to go to the US Open, I went to Larry's foosworld.com, and read that an extra block of rooms being let at $79.00/night for US Open goers had been released through Mary Moore & IFP's efforts. Great! So I called the Hilton Atlanta Hartsford-Jackson Intl - North and they said they did have the block of rooms but they were closed just that morning... great! So what rooms were left for that weekend? They started at $169 for a King-bed occupancy 1!

They were asking the regular rate of a Hilton Resorts holiday weekend rate for an Airport Hotel at the due north tip of the airport. BTW, this location in the 1000 block of Virginia Ave is pretty equivalent to where the Airport Shares Inn was due north of Miami Intl Airport. Drive east or northeast to look for food or an ATM and you have full service carjacking, mugging, stabbing, raping, pillaging in the friendly light industrial, high-criminal confines of West Hialeah. Do the same from this Hilton and you're right in Hapeland. NICE!!

Paying 150-200/night in College Park or downtown Hotlanta 15 miles north on I-85 is just fine... But these people are jacking all those who couldn't get an early room, two months before. For a piece of crap airport hotel, Hilton or not! How can both my flight & my package entry be cheaper than the rooms at this airport hovel?

:x It could be worse: The Holiday Inn Airport North 0.6 miles west on Virginia Ave has one of the worst reps since it is Delta's relief hotel for those stuck at Atlanta Intl: Shabby, really bad roaches & bedbugs, beat to hell, toilets don't flush right, & wouldn't stand up to a Day's Inn quality inspection. But at least they don't charge good working people $169 on weekends for a hotel on Virginia Ave.

I'll probably be getting a Travelocity or Expedia flt & package for 3 nights at a Radisson (kickass), Hampton Inn (biz b&b) OR Drury Inn (even better) for $425. And these guys are all less than 0.8 miles from the Hilton Shylock.

Anyone else trying to get flt+hotel reservations for under $450 3 nights?
