Upgrade an old TS Table

Anything and everything related to foosball

Hi,

I have a Tournament Soccer table (brown top) from 1988 and I was wondering if anybody ever tried to improve / upgrade an old table. I haven't played in years, but in just a couple of minutes on a new Tornado table I noticed my old table is different in two big ways.

First, since my playing surface is supported by thin plywood it gives a bit more that a table with a thick MDF base and isn't a flat. Has anybody tried to replace the plywood with MDF on a TS table or otherwise remove or improve the top?

Second, the TS men are some sort of injection mold with an edge on the side. The combination of this protruding edge and the not so flat surface seem to make it impossible to tic-tac pass across the bar with the ease it can be done on a Tornado. Has anybody ever filed or removed these edges / seams or replace the TS men with another type of man?

Aside from these drawbacks my table is in great shape.

Thanks for anybody who can offer suggestions to an old timer.
