What keeps me challenged - What about you?

A place for Utah foosers to communicate and exchange

We all have our individual motivations for playing foosball. For me foosball is not about the end result, it's about a process. It's a mental challenge with me. I'm in competition with only myself regardless of there being an opponent, or a "so-called" winner. If I play and I and win, for me I have not beaten anyone - that is not where my satisfaction really comes from. Likewise, if I lose I do not feel like a loser either. I see all players as winners, regardless. The winning is in the effort, and the fun is in maybe doing one small thing just a little better than I did it before. I'm in it for me, for what I get out of it. I measure my success against me. Many of us, I'm sure, get caught up in their "so-called" status. If someone compliments they feel great about themselves, if they are criticized it sucks the life out of them. For me it really doesn't matter what anyone's view is, good or bad, or what kind of box they try to put me in. I could be the so-called "best player" out there and still feel bad about myself and that would come out in a poor disposition and nasty attitude toward other players - where would the success be in that?
I love foosball and what I get out of it.

The above was written for the purpose of sharing only and not for the purposes of debate. I'd love to hear what keeps you playing and interested.

Regards,
Lorraine

For me, foosball is not about the end result, it's not about a process, it's not about how I play, but the thrill of play. As a result, I do not really practice by myself very often (passing, ball control exercises, forward shots, etc.). As such, what I do well, I do out of passion for playing the game. What I do not do well, I also do out of passion for playing the game. As such, I lack discipline because it's not a competition to me, but since I'm content to be a rookie forever, it's all good, right? Right?

Bueller?

Oh yeah, I forgot that I'm an unknown. I just moved here from CA, where I very rarely played DYPs with Phil Schlaefer and company. So hi! Hope to join you folks soon on Saturdays (I can't ever make it on Sundays).

Because when I feel motivated, it can be the most intense and combattive game I've ever found. And one thing it takes alot more cajonas than it gets credit for. Blood ball last game and you know your only getting one shot, who wants the ball (I do). One tourney event you can feel good about the way you played . And actually play better the next match and still lose to a lesser skilled player. The next match you can play like shit and won easy. The matches can be dictated by slop and misfortune in really unoppertune times. The unpredictability is crazy. It is never over until it is over (as yogi berra use to say) .There is no mercy for the weak here. Be up 4-0 in the 2nd and up 1 game and lose the match. Draw Lee or Mori and you get your ass handed to you it's nuts.
But I love it when I feel like playing
Signed, confused bastard child. So I am requesting DNA samples from Lee and Tommie. To find out who my parents really are. And who really owes me back child support can you say CHUCHING. But gee looking at facial features I am leaning torwards Tommie, I just cann't put my finger on why though. Or maybe it is because we both have BIG chests I don't know hmmm.
