Friday Aug 4th:
Drove down to Bud Murphy's to see if those who didn't go to Kentucky would show up. Hit there about 9:30 PM.
Surprised to see the table at the right right corner (NE) past the bar counter. Obviously, without asking or even talking to Jeff Maddux, Bud Murphy's pool table & vending MERCHANDISER had seen the potential at the original location in the back left (SW) corner of the gameroom, and summarily moved the Tornado. This is in the cubbyhole to your right with a locked external door as you walk past the end of the bar counter. They put a pool table where the foos table was, which makes sense, seeing how nice & accessible the location is. There didn't seem to be much damage to the Tornado and it was very level (the merchandiser obviously knows foos tables, too).
I concluded that that young up'n'coming 13yrold(?), Philip, and his dad had been playing earlier, perhaps with JT. Someone left both a brand new black and a brand new green MasterWrap on the yellow three and five bars. Too bad they left early. Mike Sparber of Miami, whom Jeff M had told the Boca location to down in Miami, had been working in Lake Worth and decided to drop in tonight, of all nights, to see if someone was playing.
As we got more quarters, Brendon, who lives all of 6 & 1/2 blocks away, called my mobile to say he was hungry and headed to Bud Murphy's, duh, to see if the kitchen was still open. He was there five minutes later and we had a round robin singles rotation going on. Half an hour later, we were surprised to see Ray Adams, Brendon's neighbor (Kari's husband), come over to say hi to Mike Sparber and discovers US playing. We played a whole bunch of doubles until we got kicked out and spent a little more time chatting in front of Bud's. The wo.., ahem, scenery or talent pool in that bar that Friday was really, well, astounding.
We kept waiting for G.B. Ellis or JT (Jeff Thomas) to show up as usual, but evidently they had either shown up earlier and left, or didnt go at all. Anyway, the slightly cramped cubbyhole didn't bother me a lot, but it did get in Mike's & Brendon's way, since they are taller and longer-legged. And if one is a "back-kicker" in foos, fuggettabouttitz. At least it seemed like whoever moved the table didn't damage it, much.
So Friday night at Bud's didn't turn out too badly, after all. But for all you stretchers and long-leggers.... hahahahah!!! Jeff Maddux should have bolted that table down, and now the 2nd pool table is situated perfectly. The merchandiser moved it in and it's been there since, so it would be hard to ask Bud Murphy's managers to make them put it back. SHAFTED!!!
