The game of foosball looks pretty simple at first glance -- just hit the ball into the goal -- but once you start playing in tournaments, you quickly realize there is a lot more to the game than initially meets the eye.
This is reflected quite clearly when looking at the rules for tournament play, which comprise a booklet of well over 20 pages of clarifications and legalese. The complexity of this has necessitated a "certification" process for officials, who must pass a test in order to referee tournament matches.
Therefore, it is no great surprise that players are often confused by (if not completely oblivious to) certain rules of the game. And that's where this forum comes in handy! If you have any questions about the game, or any creative interpretations of the rules, or any stories to share regarding conflicts and/or violations, here's the place to do it!
As an added feature, I will occasionally post a "common question" that I've received, and the answer to that question... or a situation I've encountered that could help give people a better awareness of how to handle things that come up in a tournament environment. And I may even throw in a tricky stumper question without an answer attached just to get everyone thinking a bit!
Enjoy!
Jeff
