Could Anyone Help With This?

A place for Utah foosers to communicate and exchange

Postby Foosfest on Mon Jun 26, 2006 6:33 pm

Below is an excerpt I took from the EZ board regarding Netfoos and why people are using it. I have not entered our tournaments on Netfoos because with the double draw it got too confusing for me. Perhaps it would not be too confusing for someone else - you all know how confused I get. I think it's just me because I'm not so good with that. I see from below comments that some are bringing in a laptop to the bar and running the brakets online realtime, which I believe can be viewed realtime by viewers wherever they may be. I'm not sure if Lumpys has an internet connection that we could use, but if they could give us one, does anyone have a laptop and would be willing to run the brackets? I think this would be very nice if we could do it. (See below comments)

I love it. We have a laptop at the bar and we run the brackets online in realtime. We have a copy on papaer too, just incase of web failure.

I recommed it for sure.

There are a couple of reasons I decided to launch this for Chicago. One of them is to keep a centralized location for all DYP and tournament results from all the playing locations in the greater Chicagoland area. Rookies always like to see their name up in lights and it always bugged me that their upset win would wind up falling off a message board front page into oblivion within a few days. The success of this site has been largely dependent upon the local TDs reporting their results - they have been absolutely great about it (thank you, John, Bobby and Mike!)

Secondly, we have a very talented base of players here, very few of whom tour. I am hoping that their ability to see how they stack up against other players in Chicago and see their progress mapped out from week to week will encourage them to tour.

I think this software is a stroke of genius and a very valuable contribution to the local foosball scenes. Thanks to Mark Winkler and his brother, Graham, for bringing this to us.

It seems to be working well in Asheville, NC as well. I wish I had internet access at the bar but, the site is still cool. Someone else had mentioned rookies seeing their names in lights, well, it seems the semi-pros like it too. All kidding aside, it is nice to store your stats and pics for all to see. I think this site is very handy for those traveling around looking for foos while away from home. Not only can they see where to play but, they can see who to play (player stats). We have a pretty good player base here in Asheville also, being able to draw from Johnson City, TN area as well as other parts of NC. I would encourage anyone interested or if you're already running local tournaments, sign up for netfoos. The only time consumption, is putting in all the players. After that, its just a few clicks and you've recorded another tournament. Thanks to Mark and Grant. Tony Alvaro

I have an extra laptop I could bring in to tournies. I'll load some bracket software as well. I know that Lumpies has a wireless hotspot, so we should be fine.

Oliver,

That is awsome! The brackets are all set up within Netfoos, so I don't think we would need additional software. The players are already entered and that is the only time intensive thing that needs to be done - I think. I'm not sure exactly how it will work, but so far NetFoos has worked pretty smoothly. Will it work, though, the way we do a double draw? Like I said, I'm not too good with that stuff. I'll see if I can get you an admin password so you can go in and take a look at it to see what you think and contact info for the NetFoos guys. What is your email address? You can email me at lorrainehough1@comcast.net.

Thanks, Oliver. It would be very cool if we could get this set up for SLC. Tournament results from multiple SLC locations could also be entered allowing for one central place for all SLC tournament info.
