Foos Tables at Lumpy's

A place for Utah foosers to communicate and exchange

Dear Managment,

First, I'd like to thank you for all your hard work and dedication. I'm sure it's not easy to run tournaments, manage a web message board, and keep everyone happy, and I just wanted to share my appreciation for your efforts.

Now, I'd like to know what it would take to get a set of new 30th anniversary edition foosball tables down at Lumpy's. I believe these tables were used at Utah State and are being used at the majors on tour. It would only seem logical that we practice and play on the same equipment that is being used on the professional level.

Furthermore, I find it a bit discouraging to pay $1.00 per rack to play on these current tables in their current condition. These current tables are some of the older cherry tables that were made probably over 8-10 years ago and play nothing like the tables on tour. Also, the tables a hardly ever leveled, the bars are becoming more, and more, bent every week, the bearings need to be changed, and it's always a surprise as to which style of ball will come out of the rack next... :D

I know that these are not your machines but with just a little encouragement to Lumpy's management they could request newer updated tables from Mountain Coin. Please don't take this as a complaint towards your efforts. Again, I commend what you've done and what you are dong. But, I do think this is a serious problem that needs to be addressed.

Hey all... Jarod from Boise... Thanks for treating us all so good last night, I had a great time. The drinks, food, hospiltality were top notch - you guys have a sweet setup now.

One thing I wanted to mention to you all, the General Manager from Lumpy's approached Dave and I (not knowing we were out of towners) asking if we were with the Foosball group, we said 'Ya' ... He said he was the GM and wanted to thank us for coming down. He sounded VERY appreciative of our business and was a cool guy. (Im sure he was aware of the cash we were pumping in the til' ... we did some damage :) - this was at the point when Lee was flinging beer around the room like he just won the Daytona 500)

I firmly believe this guy would consider your request for updated tables from the vendor. Id just call and say your w/ the foos group and you need to talk to the GM (Chris i think? hmm, cant remember his name)

Hope to see yall again soon. Go to worlds, it will make your pee pee bigger.

Agreed! I was talking with Mike about this last night and he mentioned that there was a problem between Best Distributing and Mountain Coin. Well as I understood it, Best & Mountain Coin are one in the same. But what you need to remember is that the distributor works for the "establishment", not the other way around. If you can convince your bar owner to go to bat for you, you've won the battle and we'll get new tables.

Laterz,

Especially with a place like that.... I have never seen so many Flat panels (that cost far more than a table) built into booths, built into walls, built into the bar... I didnt ever check the bathroom stalls, but I wouldnt be surprised to find a HDtv in there.

Doesnt that strike you as a place that prides itself on having the best?

Sheeyit, you could put some TS Brown tops in there and charge 2.00 a game, and I really dont think anyone who works there would know the difference; unless someone tells them.

Good luck

Tournament management is 100% on board with improving the table situation and management at Lumpys is as well. We are working on this. Your patience is appreciated while we try to make improvements.

Thanks.

I spoke with Mike about the tables and the ball situation last Sunday. It appears that he/Lorainne are working with Lumpy's management towards improving the tables, or possibly getting new ones. And, he mentioned that we would be getting new balls "probably" by the end of the week.

Mike mentioned that he was going to pull the money for the balls from the end of season pot. I made one suggestion to him which I'll relay here as well...

It may be wise to take an additional dollar from the "weekly pot" rather then the end of season pot. I know it may make weekly payouts a fraction lower but "I" believe that the end of season tournament needs to be something special. The season ending tourney should have as much money as possible in it because it allows you guys (Mike/Lorainne) to allocate the prize money over a wider array of the players. Example; Rather then just paying the top 3 it perhaps may allow you to pay the top 6, or top 8, and so on. Making payouts deeper rewards those players who have participated and qualified for the event.
