new utah foos site

A place for Utah foosers to communicate and exchange

Postby nick on Tue May 16, 2006 10:38 am

I am considering starting a new foos site called foos'n'utah. I will have somebody update it and basically maintain it. My question is there an interest in using this site if I pull the trigger on it. I would like to impose on some of the top players for tips and so on. What do you think?

Nick,

Other than a name change, how would a new site benefit us? If it would be an improvement on what we have, I don't see how anyone wouldn't want it. Outline the benefits in making the change. I think it is important to use one central site and tap into our best resources. We did have a new guy from out of state come to the tournament Sunday who was able to find us via this site. This site isn't fancy, but it is free and it is quite functional. It's good to see someone taking a interest - thanks Nick.

Well one concern I've got isn't this site being paid for by other players outside our usual group. 2nd, I don't think we can get linked in off other sites. This is nice but it isn't really a popular way to communicate or find a utah web site outside of utah.
There was even a big disscusion on the ezboard about netfoos and why people don't use it more often. The general thought was it isn't mainstream enough. But to tell you the truth outside of your input Lorraine, nobody else has spoken up. So it doesn't really spark my desire to throw the cash in to get it done. I am not asking for financial assitance I would just like to see it get used. When Lee had his running it was fun just to talk smack jump on a link to another state site, simple things like that. Well just an idea.
Besides that was always a great way to get me motivated when hacks like Lee, Mori etc...(LOL) start talking smack.

Nick,

If the old site was a good thing, would you be interested in getting it up and running again? If so, talk to Lee and I'm sure that could be done.

I would do that for sure, but how many people are even responding to this subject. I will pull the trigger today if there seems to be people interested in using it. I really hope there is an interest, because I would love to do this.

Nick,

It's a great idea and a horrible idea at the same time. The utahfoos.com site got tons of hits everyday but very little interaction. Just as I'm seeing with the Utah section on NetFoos. I'd like to see a site dedicated to strictly UtahFoosball. I think it's a great idea and a great way to spread the word about foosball in Utah. Just remeber, it's a lot of work and with very little thanks.

This was the big issue I had, was if it was going to get used. Since we've only getting 2 oppinions, that pretty much answers that. Well thanx for the response you 2.

Well if the question is whether it will get used. The answer is Yes! Plenty of people will view the site, get information from the site, and for the most part enjoy reading the site. However, most are not ready to actually use the message board feature of the site. Remeber a website is more then just a message board. It provides news, updates, statistics, player profiles, links, a place for local players to call home, a place for out of towners to search for local action when they are in town and many, many other things.

Now, if your concern is over whether people will use the 'message board' feature to your site, the answer is, Who Knows.

Laterz,
