Wow, thanks for the goalie vote, Moose. So then why didn't you ask me to play with you in the Pro/Am next week? LOL

As for you being a "poor sport", Craig... I think that 2-bar man would agree with you. And for the Euro-pin, you apparently haven't played with Tony Caruso locally, or else you probably would have listed him, too. But why did you list me on the 5-man shot? I hardly ever do that.

I've enjoyed reading some of the comments in this thread, but I personally really don't like trying to rate people subjectively, to try to come up with the top 3 in any of these categories. Heck, I don't even have an answer when anyone asks me about my favorite movie or TV show.

Well Jeff if I thought you would play with me I would have asked. I think you are the best goalie we have locally.

The next bring after the SFF3 at Strikers if you can make it I would play with you.

Moose...I think the lack of response to your poll clearly shows one of the strenths of our local group. Our group's demeanor, for the most part, is that of support and solidarity - we don't seem to be an incredibly judgmental lot -- which I think is a good thing overall.

I know I don't feel comfortable singling out individual players and pigeonholing them into these categories, mainly because an individual's performance on any given night in a tournament can be significantly affected by the partner they draw (foos chemistry). Also, some players don't come out regularly, so you don't get a chance to witness consistency of play in any given skill area.

With that being said, I would like to make one contribution in the area of "Best Sport", because that is most definitely an individual attribute not dependent on other factors of game play. Hands down, the best sport I have seen consistently on a local basis is Jeff Thomas. I always enjoy playing with him and against him. He plays hard with all of his heart, so his competitive desire and nature is evident; however, he always encourages his partners and never fails to give sincere compliments to his opponents during a match. A true gentleman and good sport in my book.

Geee Thanks Gary for setting me up on this thread here, lol I know you guys arent taking to heart what Moose or I listed here. Its all just an 'opinion'. I understand what you mean about singling people out and pointing out good and bad attributes of players.

Alot of guys who we play with now, havent played with people, others have played with for several years, so in a sense, there's noway to say whos better or worse. Again, these are only 'opinions'.

Jeff K , I know you hardly shoot a five bar shot but I only remember your five bar due how consistently you pass it through and can recall a series of five bar instances. Yet again, its just an observation for the last 1.2 yrs I have been playing with you and others.

I agree with you Moose, I'd like to see some others throw caution to the wind and give there 'opinion' on this thread. But you have a point Cheryl regarding what makes our group tight down here. We dont throw all the judgements as much as I see in places abit north and north west of us.

We just play the frikin game and leave it at that.

Anyways, those who want to reply, I can handle constructive criticism, I aint sceered, have you heeeeard..... Weerd....

Picking all the categories is tough, but I definitely back Cheryl with JT as the "Best Sport". I've known him a long time (about 3 decades) and he has always been a class act -- he got my vote for "sportsman of the year" last year. Hopefully JT will be back to playing shape soon as I'm sure we all miss him on the table.

Cheryl I did not start the post I just gave my opinion and you do not have to responde if you don't want to I can respect that. I feel it is good to get input from our peers (I know everybody is trying to be politicly correct). I am not putting anyone down as a matter of fact I thought I was giving props to a few players. If I did not mention anyone and they took offense to it sorry that was not my intention.

That being said JT is a great guy!

Really all of the players here are great I have not had a bad experiance since I have been here.

Hey Moose...

You seemed disappointed at the lack of response, so I thought I'd share some insight (from my own perspective) as to why that might be so. I hope in doing so that I did not imply this was an inappropriate post in any way, because it certainly isn't, and it's interesting to see some of the comments from those who have felt comfortable responding thus far.

On another note, I think you and my sweetheart would definitely make a good team and would collaborate well on the table, so I am looking forward to seeing you guys play together in the near future.

Have a great weekend! :)

I'd play in a BYP with you anytime, Moose. I think we may actually be able to make it out to the bring at the end of May...

Truth be told, I usually struggle to find partners for events... usually because I'm looking for a forward so I can play the pits. So I'd hope that you (nor any other forward) wouldn't hesitate to ask me to team up thinking that I'd turn you down, since I'm typically available.

LOL, I tell you what, Moose you and I are the only ones bold (or stupid)enough to answer this post. I guess Gary just ran for the hills, lol.

At least you could have put down what you though Gsquared, since.... you were the originator...!

And like Moose said, I think everyone in the SoFlo area that I've played all have been outstanding even the beginners working through the ranks.

Personally, I dont think there is one player I 'would not' team up with. I had my doubts about UBooHoo but hes actually become a decent teammate when we pair up. Props to you, PooPoo!!

Craig, I will post my feelings toward this. I just wanted to sit back and see what some of the others posted. And you will find that some people are too stuffy or righteous to add opions on this. Maybe they are just scared of the truth. I dont know? There are world ranking out there is that any Different? I dont think so. I really wanted for people not to add their name But as you see they did , So I will do the same...

Best Pull out of the back Brian C. Use to have a good one (I vote Most Power on this one) But I have not seen it in a while. David Abrams can hit all the holes! Which I think might put him on the top of this one! Brian U. Sprays a good one but not very Powerful

All Aound Goalie_ Kenny is #1 then Brian C , David Abrams, ( the fact that Dave can be off the table for so long then walk up and in no time at all Start Blasting shots is amazing to me)!!Hank, Mr. Dumas, Brian U. Jeff K. is not a bad Goalie He is lost with out Adam though. I think Nick F. Was better! Paul S. you are up there as well.

I have to add this When Brian C. and I won Expert Doubles at the Fla. State Tourny He was setting up a push shot series from the back and it was A Beautiful thing to witness He set up close to the wall and His brush Pass and Long all Looked exactly like each other!!!!!! His long was a ROCKET!!!!!!! His brush Pass was a rocket also! (Not sure how I caught them but I DID) And his Brush just glided down the table almost looked like it was floating!! Best Goalie series I have ever seen

I think Hank Has the best goalie D hands down!!

5 man Offense- Gary G, Brian C, Mark W. Moose (I think Brian's is up there with Mine It Is a toss up with us). Mark and Moose Is up there with us, mark is just a lil Inconsistent and Moose Is one tough Scrapper. He is a close 3rd Side note... Craig has the making of what could be a great 5man. Just needs some tutoring!!

5man Defense- Brian C. (he has me on this one) Gary G. I scrap till the bitter end!!! Moose has a good D!!!!!

5 man shot. I really think i have this one but Brian C. might not agree cause he has a rocket also!!

3 Bar Snake ( Tough one for me but I will be honest) I Think we can take this one a few routes. first of all I think i used to have the best. But not anymore!! Mine is the smoothest till Mark W. came around .but he still has a lot of fine tuning! Brian C has the fastest and hardest hands down!! However And Brian please dont take this the wrong way!! When you get upset you are done!!!!!! If you could learn how to control your temper, with your 5man and your goalie game, I truly can see you winning a major Singles tournament!!Moose has a Real nice one soo here it goes.

Brian C.
Mark W.
Moose and Gary Are tied for third ( Sorry moose but not for long!! :P

Best Pull-Brian C. had a screamer before he shot a snake. I am glad you dropped that shot!!!
Brian U has a great Pull from up there!!
Tony used to have a very accurate and picks the hole like no other! Ok here it goes.

Brian U
Brian C
Tony M

Over all 3 Bar
Brian C (if he is not mad)
Gary G. (even with the long lay off)
Mark W. With a few others Like Moose ! Moose is an all around great player!!
Brian U. Does not play a whole lot up there but is very good when he does.
The sleeper is Craig. He is a sneaky player with great shots!!

Jarring goes to Geno, But he does not mean to. I on the other hand mean to, And I am very good at it!! Back in the day I used to drive Brian C. crazy with it!!

bad Dresser BRIAN U. hands down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Brian C. Help me draw the picture of Brian U at the majors with goofy looking shorts and Black tube socks with sneakers!! Or Dockers! I use to tell peolple from other areas I had no idea who he was!! LOL
All Around this one is tough!!!!!!!!! But I am going to be honest!!!!!!!!

#1 Brian C.
#2 Gary G. ( It hurt me to put Brian On top of me but I am going to try to make a come back!!
#3 Brian U.
I am going to put a #4 on here cause he desrves it!! Mark W. Mark I think you are better then UPOOPOO But you have to put it all together to move up the list!! A little Fine tuning is all you need!
Moose you are up there and Craig also!! you guys just need to jar a little bit!! The game is not going to come to you you have to reach out and grab it!!! Get more aggressive guys!!

Paul Slade you have it also but you have a problem with getting mad then letting it bother you!! you have been playing a long time and you are a very good over all player!!

Up and Coming...
John oyu have to settle down put some time in. It will come to you but you are on pace to very good!!!!!
Geno Keep it up!!

Jen You shoot solid from back there! Next week Before the tournament I am going to show you a basic Push series from the back that will have people pulling out their hair!!!!

Please post your comments on my list guys and Jeff K. lighten up a little this all for fun put your honest opion in a list here. All kidding aside I think you are a great goalie!!

Mark W. PLEASE!!! I want to see your list also. Everyone is allowed to post their opion on here It does not make you a bad person. people are allowed to disagree!!! Lets see it!! Brian Lets see it.

No offence to Gary, but Cheryl said it well, ty! I had a whole list posted, and proofread it and I was like....W..T...F? Is this what we've come to?

We are supposed to be playing weekly to have fun for some, and for others to get better for tour play, and instead we are making a list of the players who always win, and at the same time a non-list of the players who don't! It's pretty sad!.....IMHO!

I mean no disrespect to those who replied, as they did in good will.

So, my vote is for "All of the above"

For me it's hard to say who is the best local at one thing or another. Personally, I rank myself on how I did at my last big tournament -- local events for me now are really just about having fun with my friends. There was a time when I really cared a lot about winning locally, but now it is just about keeping it fun. That's just me, but I'm sure there are many locally who really want to win every week and hopefully put it all out there each time to make it happen =).

Or course, with the next SFFS tournament coming up next weekend we will be able to determine who is the best at Goalie Wars, Forward Shootout, Singles on that day as well as the best teams that day in the Pro/Am, Rookie Doubles and the High/Low DYP.

Also, don't forget to start thinking about our end of the year awards at the Florida State tournament in October: Most Improved Player, Sportsman of the Year, Goalie of the Year and Forward of the Year. Should we do a "circle the name" ballot this year or do a "write in" ballot like we have done in the past?

Mark, I would suggest implementing a two-step process. First, there should be a nomination system beforehand (similar to our current write-in votes), and only those people with 3 or more nominations are then put on the circle-the-name ballot at the event itself.

Jeff, I like that plan and tried it last year with the post below. I don't think our forum was as active then so hopefully we'll be able to get some nominations this year.

To make this work please use the to send me your picks to go on the ballots (or post here or tell me in person). You can suggest multiple names for each of the categories and the top vote getters will be listed on the ballots at the October tournament.

- Sportsman of the Year
- Forward of the Year
- Goalie of the Year
- Most Improved Player

Good luck to everyone!
